The Mai-Kai has been serving up Tiki kitsch in Fort Lauderdale, Florida since 1956. It has undergone some renovations over the years but, as you can see, it still retains its charm.
I’ve heard people say that the Mai-Kai does not represent authentic Polynesian culture. That may be true, but it misses the point entirely. The Mai-Kai is instead a prime example of authentic Tiki culture.
